The 'Ocean Gypsy' styled shoot concept was directed by Alison Hughes Weddings and demonstrates a bolder take on beach weddings which are traditionally light and bright.
“There’s something so enchanting and mysterious about the ocean," Alison shares continuing, "I wanted to really push creativity and show couples a unique colour concept to seaside weddings - steering away from the bright whites and blues, and using a moody, darker colour scheme with lots of matte brassy golds. Having a gypsy bride worked perfectly with the theming and inspiration quote, being the type of person who we all view as naturally beautiful, and like the ocean, she is completely free to move from place to place”.
The team found a beautiful nook tucked below the cliff face of Stanwell Tops Beach, on the outskirts of Sydney’s Royal National Park, and knew this was a fantastic location for dramatic footage.
Photographed by talented photographer, Kristie Carrick, and accompanied by creative filmmakers Sam and Isaac of Bloom Films, the ceremony set the enchanted mood for the shoot as the couple exchanged vows with the guidance of celebrant Nicola Juliet Ceremonies. The ceremony arch was dramatically styled by florist Bek of Floral Pines Design Co. Bek used magnolia tree branches as a base, and then layered the arch with completely open, locally grown honey dijon garden roses. The foliage was full of texture using a variety of leaves such as dried intricate ferns and soft fluffy pampas grass.
The gypsy bride wore a dramatic black two piece set gown. The Ebony lace top and tulle skirt designed couture by the hands of Amy New Bridal.
Boho Hair & Make Up kept her face fresh and natural, enhancing her feminine features with lush lashes, pronounced brows and an earthy lip colour. Chantelle then brought her hair back in a messy, beachy pony and finished the style with a long, loose braid.
The bride's enchanted look was made complete with a beautiful handmade Swarovski crystal crown by Teeki from Love Marie Bridal Boutique, and she held a beautiful loosely structured organic bouquet in popping colours complimenting her black gown.
The shoot's groom was completely decked out in Roger David. He wore a crisp white collar long sleeve shirt with rolled up sleeves, burgundy strap braces and less than traditional black skinny rolled up jeans.
Chantelle swept his hair back beneath a black wide brim hat and an intricate rose buttonhole with gold foil leaf detail to finish off his look.
May Rose Style set the dining scene following the colour scheme of earthy wood, brassy gold and deep burgundy by placing a pallet table on top of layered Persian rugs, softened with mismatched pillows. Sally styled the table using Pretty Pedestals natural linens, gold edge white chargers, matte gold cutlery and crystal cut glassware.
Placed by each plate was a littlehoothoot designed menu with a free hand metallic gold calligraphy using kohl indie hand made paper with deckled edges. The vessels on the table were filled with garden roses and scabiosa, with some leaves spayed gold using attention to detail.
Lastly, a decedent three tier black wood grain chocolate and raspberry cake sat by the dining table. Cake Me Pretty made this creation all by hand, and like a piece of art, added her finishing touches using gold painted floral effects and fresh blooms.
We love this wedding concept, pushing creativity and experimenting with new ideas. Another stunning styled shoot by a very talented team of creatives. Go forth an be inspired to create your own original take on the beach wedding!
