Nestled in the cove-studded coastline of Italy’s Bay of Naples, Nicole and Ryan exchanged vows in a romantic and traditional ceremony at the Little German Church in Capri Centro.

Ryan visited Capri years before and when he proposed to Nicole, he had in mind to tie the knot on this wonderful island, sure that Nicole would fall in love with the island too. Summer wedding? Spring wedding? Not at all: New Year’s Eve wedding! “It was a dream that we never thought could happen,” he says. And the more they considered it, the more real it became.

Wedding date: December 31st, 2016

Wedding location: Capri, Italy

Number of guests: 30

Bridal Party: One maid of honour and one bridesmaid

Ceremony time: From 3pm

Reception time: From 6pm

Tell us about how you met and about the proposal…

Ryan and I met our freshman year of college at a New Years Eve party that he was hosting. On the 31st of December 2015, 10 years to the date of our first meeting, Ryan got down on one knee at Gurney’s Resort and Spa on Montauk, Long Island on a balcony overlooking the beach.

Where was the location of your wedding ceremony and reception?

Our ceremony took place at the Little German Church in Capri Centro and our reception dinner took place at the Villa Silia followed by a New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Piccolo Bar in Capri Centro.

How did you find your location?

Our wedding planner, Alessia Santa was instrumental in finding our locations for all aspects of the wedding.

What was the vibe or theme of your wedding?

The colour palette was ivories, dark reds and vibrant greens from olive branches and other local botanicals regional to the island.

How easy or hard was it to plan your wedding?

Easy! Alessia was amazing and we could not have planned it without her.

Where did the majority of your guests stay?

The Majority stayed at the Villa Silia with us with other guests staying at nearby villas.

What are you glad you did on your special day?

I am glad Ryan and I had some down time to take it all in and enjoy every moment.

Did you have an itinerary or planned activity for guests on either side of the wedding?

Other than the welcome reception and the morning after brunch, we did not have much planned. We had an impromptu group trip the following day up to Ana Capri which was incredible.

What advice would you give a couple planning a destination wedding in this location?

My advice would be to find Fabio at the Vila Silia! He is a wealth of knowledge about the island and was such an amazing asset to have.

What did you like about having a destination wedding?

I loved the spontaneity of it. It felt really whimsical and romantic plus we were able to experience New Years Eve on Capri Island with our close family and friends which is a memory that we will all cherish forever.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Walking down the aisle and marrying my best friend.

What standout vendors from your chosen wedding destination would you recommend to others?

Alessia Santa at White Emotion was a fantastic wedding planner plus all the staff at The Villa Silia were amazing and truly helped make our night magical from start to finish.
