NOSHIN + JONO

November 2, 2017

In Issue 1 of Luna + Honey, you met Gold Coast couple Noshin and Jono, whose destination wedding took them around the world, to the bride’s home country of Sweden. Surrounded by nature, the couple fulfilled their dream of marrying in the countryside - on a farm, complete with a big rustic red barn.

Wedding date: July 16th, 2016

Wedding location: Nykoping, Lasatter Gard, Sweden

Number of guests: 68

Bridal Party: One maid of honour,  and one best man

Ceremony time: From 4:30pm

Reception time: 5:15pm – 1am

You're from Queensland. Why did you choose to marry on the other side of the world in Sweden?

Noshin is Swedish, and the majority of our guests were Swedish. We wanted a wedding in the country, surrounded by nature. So we chose somewhere close to Stockholm, but far enough away to submerge in rolling green fields, forests and nature.

Where did the majority of your guests stay?

Good Morning Hotell Nykoping. Our immediate family stayed at a house on the farm we rented for them.

Did you have an itinerary/activities planned for guests before or after your wedding?

We did lots of activites with our family and friends after the wedding. We went site seeing in Stockholm, drank beer and wine on roof tops under the midnight sun, went shopping, ate swedish hot dogs, saw beautiful old muesums and visited islands in the Stockholm archipelligo.

How easy or hard was it to plan your wedding?

It was tricky at times because it was an overseas wedding and mostly DIY.

Describe the reception space and décor…

We ad lots of geenery! We used a lot of Eucalyptus to add a touch of Australia in there.

What were the details of the entertainment and music you chose?

Viktoria Winderud - sang and played Sweat by Ry X whilst Noshin waled down the isle. For the rest of the night we just had a spotify list of our favourite music. One of the night's hilghights was ther persian dance music. Everyone got into the dancing groove when they heard the persian beats.

What was your choice for wedding favours?

A smile and a hug (not really a Swedish tradition)!

What was your favourite moment from the day?

The ceremony, it felt intimate, it felt real and it was perfect. My sister had surprised us with the singer, Viktoria Winderud, who sang our song for us which both blew us away. She sang it perfectly and with such heart.

What did you like about having a destination wedding?

We wanted to find a location and vendor that suited us and reflected who we are. It ended up coming together perfectly, we styled and created everything ourselves. We also wanted our international guests and family to experience the beautiful Swedish country landscape.

What advice would you have for someone else planning a wedding in this location?

Enjoy the sauna! Try out the delicous fladder drink. Be prepared that your wedding guests might tie up all the taxis in the town!
