Tell us about how you met and about the proposal…
We meet whilst working at a mine site together in WA. Sam proposed at home on my birthday with a diamond ring he had made as we had talked about designing the engagment ring together.
Where was the location of your wedding ceremony and reception?
Our ceremony was held at The Olive Grove and our reception was at The Venue at Lake Wanaka.
What was the vibe or theme of your wedding?
We did'nt really have a theme. But it turned out to be a romantic rustic look.
How did you find your location?
We went to Wanaka to look at locations we found on the internet and loved the outllook and privacy at the Olive Grove.
Was it hard to plan your destination wedding?
It was relatively easy. Lots of emails and help from my mum.
Describe the reception space...
There were waterfall fairy lights, hessian and lace table runners, and lots of candles. LA Social from Queenstown played and our first dance was to Frankie Valli's "Cant Take My Eyes Off Of You". For food, we had an antipasto platter for entree, a selection of beef, chicken, salads, and veggies for main, and dessert was mini chocolate cakes and strawberries n cream. Our wedding cake was a semi-naked carrot cake with white chocolate ganache.
Did you have an itinerary or planned activities for guests on either side of the wedding?
We had a BBQ the day after the wedding.
What advice would you give a couple planning a destination wedding?
Know what you want. Go and visit in advance if you can so you can talk to everyone.
What did you like about having a destination wedding?
We got married and also got a holiday!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
There are too many to name! I just enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
