Being a professional makeup artist, bride Jordan had many of the creative details of her wedding covered, doing her own hair and makeup, as well as being the florist and stylist. Her talents helped to make sure hers and her partner Joel’s wedding was one that was very much tailored to the couple and their personalities, plus showed off their love for Greek architecture with the beyond beautiful backdrop of Santorini.
Wedding date: October 6th 2016
Wedding location: Santorini, Greece
Number of guests: 10
Ceremony time: 3pm – 3:30pm
Reception time: 5pm – 12am
Tell us about how you met and about the proposal…
We met through mutual friends. For the proposal, we rode to the top of a mountain in Queensland and Joel proposed on a t-shirt! After he unzipped his jacket I barely gave him the opportunity to present the ring before I said yes repeatedly! It was an amazing view with an amazing man.
Where was your wedding ceremony and reception?
Our ceremony and reception were both at at Dana Villas in Fira, Santorini. We found the venue on Trip Adviser and it was our first time visiting Greece!
Why did you choose to have your destination wedding in Santorini?
We're obsessed with how beautiful Santorini is, and we were drawn in by the sea views and blue and white buildings. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to celebrate.
What was the vibe or theme of your wedding?
We wanted the wedding to have a relaxed modern Greek theme, nothing too over the top seeing as the location itself was breath-taking.
Did you have an itinerary or planned activities for guests on either side of the wedding?
Joel and I, along with all of our guests, spent the day before the wedding on a catamaran visiting the Red Beach, White Beach and watching the sunset all together in a special location.
Was any travel or transport organised for your guests?
All of our guests tailored their own holiday around our wedding week. Some travelled through Germany, Switzerland and Austria before reaching Greece and others visited England, Dubai and Singapore.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Seeing my best friend waiting for me at the end of the isle!
How easy or difficult was it to plan your wedding day?
The only difficulties we had were the language barriers on top of only being able to communicate effectively by email. Because it was all via email, there were some miscommunications that were then rectified once we had met with Dana Villas in Greece the week before the wedding.
What advice would you have for someone planning a destination wedding?
Allow more than six months to make this decision. We had trouble finding vendors that could deliver what we were looking for in such a short period of time!
What did you like about your destination wedding?
It was unique, quaint and very intimate which was exactly what we wanted.
