On an annual dog sledding adventure in Mont Tremblant, Canada's charming ski resort and village, Michael got down on one knee in the middle of the snowy woods and asked his long-time love Danielle to be his wife. "He even planned for a photographer to be there, to capture the moment!" Danielle adds, reminiscing on one of the biggest moments of her life. What followed was a whirlwind wanderlust-filled destination wedding across the world in the heart of central Italy's wine country - Tuscany.

Where was the location of your wedding ceremony and reception?

Our wedding ceremony was held in the Amphitheatre of Castello di Casole in Casole D’Elsa, Italy, looking out over the vineyards and valleys to the quaint hilltop Tuscan towns.

Our reception was held at The Castello’s original Winery, overlooking the vineyards and groves.

What advice would you give a couple planning a destination wedding in this location?

I cannot imagine a more beautiful place to spend your wedding day. Take advantage of everything Castello di Casole has to offer; from the amazing infinity pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside, to the top notch food, and on site activities that they offer. The staff at Castello di Casole goes above and beyond to make your wedding day one that you will always remember. You can feel confident that every vision and desire you have for your big day, will not only be met, but exceeded!

How did you find your location?

We found Castello di Casole on the internet, by doing hours and hours of research on venues. We knew we wanted a small, intimate venue in the Tuscan countryside with all of the benefits of a 5 star boutique hotel.  As soon as we stumbled upon Castello di Casole, we knew there was no other place in the world that would compare.

Describe the reception space...

The reception was held in the Castello’s Winery. It was a romantic, intimate space, with glass doors opened, overlooking the vineyards and groves. We wanted an intimate dinner with our families, reminiscent of Sunday family dinners at home. A long white table was set for 11, decorated with varying sizes of gold candelabras full of pink and white flowers and a long burlap and lace table runner. Each place setting was accompanied by a name card, a menu card and a mini flower bouquet.

We had the most amazing Italian band playing in the vineyards upon our arrival, in the background during dinner, and dancing the night away with us.

Where did the majority of your guests stay?

All of our guests stayed in suites on property at Castello di Casole.

Did you have an itinerary or planned activities for guests on either side of the wedding?

To make the most of our stay at Castello di Casole, we had an itinerary planned for the three days surrounding and including our wedding day.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Our favorite part of our wedding day was reading our handwritten vows to each other, in front of our family members. It was truly the most special moment of our entire lives.

What are you glad you did on your special day?

We wanted our wedding day to be stress-free and laid back, and we wanted to make the most of every second we had in Tuscany. Our ceremony did not begin until 6pm, so we planned a bike ride around the Tuscan countryside with all of our guests the morning of the wedding. We spent two hours riding through the countryside, getting to enjoy some of the most beautiful views of Tuscany, and enjoying the company of our family. Michael and I always talk about that morning, and how different it was from most traditional wedding days. We got to spend it together in one of the most beautiful places in the world, with no stress, and just pure excitement for our big day.

How easy or hard was it to plan your wedding?

It was extremely easy and stress free planning our wedding. All of the staff at Castello Di Casole were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I trusted their guidance on every aspect of the wedding, from reception and ceremony locations to outside vendor referrals for flowers. They took all of my visions and requests, and made them a reality!

Is there anything you would have done differently?

No! There is nothing we would have done differently. The day exceeded our wildest dreams. It was everything we ever dreamt of and more!
