An all-American girl meeting the mysterious Aussie man of her dreams - sounds movie worthy to us. Luke knocked Danielle off her feet from the moment they met through a mutual friend and he eventually made the move to the States for the love of his life. It was most definitely a destination wedding for much of his family who made the long flight to LA, but their desert chic Californian wedding was beyond worth the trip.
Wedding date: September 3rd 2016
Wedding location: Palos Verdes Estates, CA
Number of guests: 165
Bridal Party: Two maids of honour, six bridesmaids, one best man, five groomsmen and two flower girls
Ceremony time: 1pm – 1:30pm
Reception time: 3pm -11pm
How did you meet?
Luke was on a surf trip to California from Australia and stopped in at my college town, where a friend introduced us!
And how did Luke propose?
On top of Shelly Beach cliffs at sunrise.
Tell us a little bit more about the location you chose for your wedding...
We moved to Manhattan Beach in LA 6 months before the wedding. The reception took place in our family home, where I grew up in Palos Verdes and the ceremony was held at The Neighborhood Church.
Did you coordinate transportation or accomodation for your guests?
The majority of our guests stayed all over LA - from Manhattan Beach to Venice. So we organised a shuttle bus for them.
What activities did you plan for your guests before or after the wedding day?
We had a night out at a rooftop bar overlooking Venice and also a family BBQ.
Tell us a little more about the vendors you chose for your big day...
For our menu, we had San Diego Taco Company and later on an In-N-Out food truck came so our guests could have some yummy burgers, and a family friend made our wedding cake. The decor I did myself with the help of my wedding planner. For our first dance we chose Angus & Julia Stone's "Big Jet Plane" and then for the Father/Daughter dance I chose Fleetwood Mac's "Landslides".
What was your favourite moment from your wedding day?
Our dances and the sunset photos we took. Our wedding was just what we wanted - it felt intimate, even with a large group. Not to mention the beautiful home and ocean views!
In hindsight, is there anything that you would have done differently?
It was stressful planning such a big event, with so many moving pieces and coordinating a large group, but it turned out perfectly and we wouldn't change anything!
